Our Team

Our vets, vet nurses, assistants and admin staff are all passionate about providing the best care for your animals.

Between us we have many years of experience both locally and around the country. From the excitement of a new puppy or kitten visit to the privilege of providing excellent end of life care, and everything in between, we take our role as your animal health experts seriously. We are always looking to progress our knowledge and skills for our patients’ health and happiness. Our relationships with referral and specialist veterinarians mean we can offer the best possible options for your circumstance.

One of the most rewarding parts of veterinary practice is getting to know our clients and their animals - seeing them grow, helping them through challenges, and working together for their benefit. We look forward to meeting you and your family.

  • Charles Bunce BVSc

    FOUNDER, Veterinarian

Charlie has been a vet since 1975, starting out in Busselton and Perth, WA. He and Wendy settled in Moree in 1977 and founded Gwydir Veterinary Clinic in 1978. His years of experience in all of the species we see here in Moree, eye for the details and deep community ties are absolutely invaluable to us and our clients. Although now semi-retired, we are grateful that Charlie continues to work part time and share his knowledge and experience.

  • David Hunter BVSc

    DIRECTOR, Veterinarian

David graduated from the University of Queensland in 1989 and moved to Moree to start work in January 1990. David subsequently worked in the UK in mixed practice before returning to Moree. David has been a Director of Moree Veterinary Hospital since January 2000. David enjoys all aspects of mixed rural veterinary practice and the challenges of running a small business. In his time away from work David is an enthusiastic cyclist enjoying participating in cycling events in the mountains.

  • Eliza McInnerney BSVc(Hons) MANZCVS (Small Animal Surgery)

    DIRECTOR, Veterinarian

Eliza grew up near Surat, in South West Queensland, and decided she wanted to be a vet when she got to ‘help’ stitch up a pony at age 8. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013 and spent her first five years as a vet in Goondiwindi, having a great time and learning plenty. A few years of locuming around Australia and one surgery internship later, she took her membership exams in Small Animal Surgery through the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. This is similar to an advanced general practitioner qualification. She started at Moree in 2022 and was very excited to become a Director and part owner in February 2023. Eliza loves the variety and challenges of rural mixed practice, surgery and small animal dentistry in particular.

  • Alice Boland BVetBio/BVetSc

    Veterinarian

Alice is a Moree local who graduated from CSU in 2018. After working in Young for three years, Alice made the move home. Alice spends most of her time helping out on the family farm, but lucky for us we get the benefit of her skills and friendly face on a weekly basis.

  • Fiona Hynes

    Reception

Fiona is one of our longest serving nurses, starting in 2006, gaining her Certificate IV in 2007 and more recently moving to reception. When not holding down the fort here Fee’s time is spent with her three beautiful daughters and their ponies.

  • Maria Morton

Maria has been part of the team since 2010, bringing with her years of veterinary reception experience. Maria and her husband John have a large collection of all kinds of animals, many of them rescues, and is heavily involved in the polocrosse scene.

  • Emma Went

    Veterinary Nurse

Emma is a Moree local who has been a Veterinary Nurse since 2016. She gained her Certificate IV in 2018. Emma loves horses, so much so that even after a serious accident in 2017 she still has two of the beautiful creatures. Emma and her husband Kobi also have three dogs and three cats.

  • Carly Creighton

    Veterinary Nurse

Carly has been a Veterinary Nurse in Moree since 2016. Carly loves assisting with caesarean sections and working with the lab equipment. Carly can’t pick a favourite animal, but she is very fond of dachshunds and has one of her own.

Brooklyn is a Warialda local who has started with us this year as an Animal Assistant while studying for her animal care qualification at TAFE. Brooklyn loves all animals, but in particular her Basenji Malia.
