Ringworm (dermatophytosis)

A.K.A Infection by Microsporum species

Fun fact, it’s not a worm! Ringworm is actually a fungal infection that shows up as a (usually roundish) hairless area on the skin, with flaking or crusting. It can be quite itchy for your pet. Be cautious as it is contagious between animals, and humans can get ringworm too! Pets can also pick up this infection from spores in the environment.

Ringworm is more common in younger animals due to their reduced immunity and lack of prior exposure.
