Dog Worming
Protection against worms is important for the health of your dog and also your family.
Dogs can become infected with worms at any stage in their life but are especially susceptible as a puppy as some worms can be passed on from their mother.
Dogs can get intestinal parasites such as hookworm or Giardia which humans are susceptible to also.
We recommend worming your puppy every 2 weeks until 12 weeks old and then monthly until 6 months old and then every 3 months thereafter (n.b. this can vary with the product being used).
This schedule is based on the life cycle of the worms and the burden your pet can tolerate, however if you would prefer your pet never sheds any worm eggs then we recommend monthly worming.
There are different types of worms and many different products that can be used for protection. Give us a call to discuss the best option for your pet.
